27-year-old moves into first solo apartment, stepmom flips out when he refuses to accept her decorating tips: 'She told me if I ever want to find a woman, I need to let her redecorate'

Living alone should be a peaceful experience, but that is not always the case.

Supposedly, one of the biggest perks of being the only person at home is that it comes with a freedom that you just don't have otherwise. When a place is all yours, you can choose exactly how you want to live there, and you don't have to listen to other people's opinions on it.

That being said, those who are particularly unlucky are often subjected to unsolicited advice from people whom they know anyway. Sometimes it is friendly and can end up being helpful, especially if an individual does not have a lot of experience in running their own household. Other times, though, it is the product of a chronic busybody who insists on making everything their business because they believe that they know better. This can be annoying at best, and detrimental to quality of life at worst.
